COMPANY PROFILE

OOS-Opera on Original Site, Inc. was established in 1987 with the aim to produce and market opera events with high artistic standards at the sites with which they are most closely associated. Main activities include:

The production of Giacomo Puccini's "Turandot" at the Forbidden City in Beijing, People's Republic of China, in 1998, has been the company's largest project so far, with a budget of close to $15 million US, and over 29,000 visitors from around the world.

Already in 1987, at the time of the first and most spectacular of the "Aida" (Giuseppe Verdi) productions at the temple of Luxor, Egypt, Michael Ecker, President of OOS-Opera on Original Site, Inc., was involved in the marketing of this one-time extravaganza for the European market.

This was followed by promotion, marketing and production planning of the open-air performances of the opera "Nabucco" by Giuseppe Verdi in Jerusalem in 1988, again for certain market segments.

For the "Three Tenors in Concert" held in Los Angeles in 1994 on the occasion of the festivities surrounding the World Soccer Cup, Michael Ecker promoted and marketed this event for specific European countries.

In 1996, Michael Ecker was involved in the marketing activities in various countries for the open-air performances in Paphos, Cyprus, of Giuseppe Verdi's dramatic opera "Otello".

For projects such as "Turandot at the Forbidden City" Michael Ecker gathered a team of highly motivated and qualified professionals from around the world who share his vision of bringing first class musical and show values to the stage with the aim of presenting the public with unforgettable musical and visual impressions. With this goal in mind, he invited Mo. Zubin Mehta and the orchestra and chorus of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino from Florence, Italy, along with the three-times Oscar nominated Chinese movie director Zhang Yimou and a stellar cast of singers to participate in the unique production of "Turandot" in the Forbidden City. Given the magnitude of the project, with a triple cast of principal singers (including international stars such as Sharon Sweet, Sergej Larin, Barbara Hendricks, Barbara Frittoli, etc.), over 1.500 participants and a budget of approx. $15 million US, It took four years of preparation until all production, political and administrative hurdles were overcome.
